About me

My name is Mathias Ekman and I am a part time knife maker who lives in Stockholm, Sweden.

I have always had an interest of working with my hands and craft class was my favourite subject in school. My interest lead me to Södertörns Fria Hantverksgymnasium, a craft secondary school where I had the chance to try many different types of crafts. A few years after graduation the world of knife making opened up to me by chance. My first knife made outside school was made in my parents garage with hand tools and ever since then I´ve been stuck.

Today I run my business from my own workshop where I make everything but the materials by hand. I have sold knives to chefs and knife enthusiasts from different parts of the world, among them the Netherlands, Germany, Singapore and the USA.

I make Japanese inspired kitchen knives and outdoor knives in scandinavian style. I prefer using the amazing woods, steels, antlers and other materials we have here in Sweden. I also make leather sheaths and wooden sayas for edge and blade protection individually for the knives.

My ambition is to produce high quality products that should be appreciated

as much for their performance as for their beauty.

During the summer of 2019 I participated in a food craft festival in Stockholm, Foodstock, showing my products and production.
