170x56mm UHB20C Honyaki Nakiri
Details
A overall light and thin knife but with nice forward balance. Not as nail flexing on the edge as my usual grinds but still very thin. The handle is not mounted dead straight in line with the blade, so the price is lowered slightly. This will not effect the performance of the knife.
Steel: UHB20C carbon steel, ~63hrc with hamon
Blade length: 170mm.
Blade height: 56mm.
Spine thickness: 2.5mm tapered down to 1.3mm at the tip.
Handle size: 25x20×143mm. Tapered to 23x 16mm towards the blade.
Weight: 155g.
Balance point: 3.8mm in front of the handle.
The handle is made of bog oak, birch bark and birch burl, all from Sweden. The blade is ground with a low wide bevel for food release and the edge is thin, but does not flex against the nail.
The knife comes with a matching saya made of birch burl with a smoked oak liner and brass pin. The saya has a friction fit.
